A Day in the Life of A Working Parent
How would you like to be a CEO of a company for a week? Or work in a bank or a warehouse? Or develop a unique product? Well, that's just what the Oakura Year 7 and 8s are doing this term. The Oakura school Year 7 and 8s are appling for jobs in the the school's 2nd annual PrEP week (Primary Enterprise Programme). This happens every 2 years and is a programme focused on showing Year 7 and 8 children what happens in a working adult's everyday life. In addition, the kids will make some real money that will be donated to our chosen charity.
There are 4 job positions avalible for the children to choose from that they have to apply for in a letter to the PrEP government (The Teachers). These jobs include the Warehouse Staff who are responsible for stocking the warehouse with goods needed for the companies. They price the goods and sell them to the businesses and keep records of what is bought. Bank staff help businesses and employees to deposit and withdraw money, keep accurate records, and learn how to give good service to customers. Managers help organise the company, allocate jobs, and get to help design and make the product. Finally, workers develop and design the product following their plans carefully and learn to work with others.
In about five weeks, a market day will be held for the rest of the school. Food, toys, ornaments and many other things that have been completely developed and designed by hand will be for sale. There also will be raffles. We hope you will help our community by supporting the Year 7 and 8 PrEP program on Market Day the 12th of November!
